Lion – Simhasana
In a kneeling position, cross the right ankle over the left, allowing the feet to point toward to the sides. Sit back on top of the right heel and firmly press the palms against the knees, splaying the fingers wide. Inhale deeply through the nose. On the exhalation, open the mouth wide, stretch the tongue out and toward the chin, open the eyes wide and make a “ha” sound. Repeat with the left ankle crossed over the right.
Benefits:
- The Lion Pose helps to relieve tension in the chest and face.
- It stimulates the platysma neck muscle, helping to keep it firm as we age.
- Lion Pose is said to help with bad breath and stuttering and is traditionally thought to destroy disease and facilitate the three major bandhas.
