Chakra
Chakrah is a word found in the Sanskrit language of India and other Asian regions, and means vortex or whirlpool. Chakrah refers to the continuous flow of our energy system, which is an abstract idea of how our conscious mind works in harmony with the rest of our body. The chakras are similar to auras, because both are abstract ideas of consciousness. Auras are less dense than the chakras, which in turn are less dense than the physical being.
All of the emotions that we feel are divided into one of the seven chakras that are present in the mind. The seven chakras are the Crown Chakra, Brow Chakra, Throat Chakra, Heart Chakra, Solar Plexus Chakra, Orange Chakra, and the Root Chakrah, and all have different colors. In this specific order, the chakras are located from the top of the head to the groin. Each chakra corresponds with one of the seven endocrine glands, and function with the endocrine system. The chakras work in harmony with a nerve group, termed the plexus, so they work with the nervous system as well. The chakras are present in these systems but affect the entire body, both mentally and physically.
The idea of the chakras is one that exists medically, but may be explained in a different way. Emotional stress does in fact produce physical symptoms, such as stress headaches, backaches, and stomachaches. The study of the chakras will help one better understand why this happens, and how to prevent the negative energy that may cause this.
The part of your body in which you feel pain or stress is a direct result of the emotion you feel at that point. The pull, or tension, felt by a specific chakra gains a reaction from the nerves of the plexus that are connected to the chakrah. The signal is then directly connected with a specific area of the body, which in turn creates physical symptoms from an emotional issue. A negative physical issue cannot exist if the emotional ties with that symptom become positive.
Here is a basic explanation of how each of the chakra work, and the color that is associated with them:
1) Crown Chakra, located on top of the head – Purple
The Crown Chakra is linked to the top of the head and the brain, as well as the nervous system as a whole. The endocrine gland that corresponds to this chakra is the pineal gland. The Crown Chakra is where we feel empathy for others.
2) Brow Chakra, located in the center of the forehead – Dark Blue
The Brow Chakra works with the forehead, temples, and the carotid plexus, or the nerves in arteries of the head and neck. The pituitary gland is affected by this chakra, which leads the main direction for our actions that affect our individual lives. This chakra represents our inner senses of self – vision, hearing, and touch.
3) Throat Chakra, located at the base of the throat – Light Blue
The Throat Chakra has control over the throat and neck, as well as the arms (including the hands). This chakra is associated with the thyroid gland, and our sense of sound. The throat chakra also harbors feelings of creativity and a relationship with one’s space.
4) Heart Chakra, located in the center of the chest – Green
The Heart Chakra works with the heart, blood circulatory system, the chest and lungs, and the cardiac plexus. The thymus gland, which controls the immune system, is affected by the Heart Chakra. The Heart Chakra affects physical and emotional feelings of love, and breathing.
5) Solar Plexus Chakra, located in the solar plexus – the pit on the stomach – Yellow
The Solar Plexus Chakra relates to the muscular and skin systems, the solar plexus, the large intestine, and other areas in this region such as the stomach and liver. The eyes and the face are also represented by this chakra. The pancreas is the endocrine glad that is associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra. This yellow chakra also deals with the mental activity and our ego.
6) Orange Chakra, located in the middle of the abdomen – Orange
The Orange Chakra affects the reproductive system and the organs, as well as the lumbar plexus and correlates to the gonads. This chakra is linked to sex and one’s appetite for food and fertility. A healthy Orange Chakra is a sign that a person is in touch with their emotions.
7) Root Chakra, located between the genitals and the anus – Red
The Root Chakra is associated with the lymph and skeletal systems, the male’s prostate gland, sacral plexus, the waste systems, the nose, and the lower parts of the body, the legs and feet. The Root Chakra relates to the adrenal gland and affects one’s securities of life- money, a job, and one’s home. Nourishing one’s self will in turn allow a sense of self-satisfaction.
