Hero – Virasana
This position is done by sitting in between the knees. This may not be suitable for people with hip or knee injuries, and arthritis. You can just be sitting up, or if you are comfortable sitting up you can also bed forward and bring the forehead to the floor.
Benefits:
- It opens the lower back, stretches the hamstrings, and improves the flexibility of the hip, knees, and ankle joints.
- It relieves menstrual cramps.
- It is said to stimulate the thyroid and parathyroid glands, the guards of the metabolism.
- It lowers high blood pressure, and for these reason it is not recommendable to do it if you have a heart disease.
