One of the many yoga technologies taught by Yogi Bhajan, master of Kundalini Yoga, was the eleven moon centers in women.
These centers may explain why women fluctuate and change opinions so often.
The eleven moon centers are not in accordance with the astrological signs, or with the position of the moon. One center switches to the next center every 2 ½ days.
All of the moon centers revolve around the chin. A man has only one moon center which is in the chin. The hair in the chin calms the moon effect. Meditating with the eyes closed and gazing toward the chin creates mental stability.
Here are the different moon centers and the qualities they represent:
Hairline: steadiness, stability, divine clarity, reality.
Cheeks: unpredictability, emotional stability.
Lips: verbal, interactive, communicative.
Ear lobes: intelligence, concern with values and ethics.
Back of the neck: sensitivity, romance.
Breasts: divine compassion, giving (sometimes to the point of foolishness).
Belly button/back: insecure, exposed, vulnerable.
Inner thighs: confirmative, verifying, affirming.
Eyebrows: illusionary, imaginative, visionary.
Clitoris: external, talkative in social situations.
Vagina: depth, sharing in personal or cultural cycles.
The best way to know where your moon center is is by listening to your inner self tracking your feelings each day for a few months. Pay special attention to the different moon centers and the qualities that they represent.
For example, if the moon center is in the back of the neck, you may wake up one morning with romantic feelings, giggling, and thinking about gardens and flowers. You may even feel the urge to buy some flowers, and you feel good about life; smiling, no rushing and taking things slowly. The next morning you may awake with the moon center on the lips and feel like talking all day long. You cannot wait to tell your friends about what happened to you yesterday, you may talk to the bus driver or engage in a conversation with others that you might not normally talk to. In a day or so you may feel like reading and relaxing. In this way, you can also feel the switch.
If a woman experiences a trauma, the moon center may suddenly change. For example, if the woman is assaulted or is victim to a violent act, the moon center may jump to her belly or, if she feels more sensitive, it may change to her neck or, if she feels compassionate, it can change to her breast.
Some women report that they are unable to locate their moon center. This may be due to stress or habits from early childhood. Some women learn to repress these incidents, thus, blocking them from their moon center. This is the mechanism they use to protect themselves. With a regular practice of Yoga and meditation, a woman can regain her strength and this will allow for the flow of all her aspects again.
