When, Where, How often
The Yogi approach to sexuality is the sacred act of “merging two people into one”. It’s necessary to create a trusting relationship in order to develop intimacy. The relationship with intimacy must be healthy and enjoyable. In some cultures, women are denied the enjoyment of sexuality. In our society, most young women are awakened sexually at a very early age because of the exploitation of sex through the media. They believe that sex will bring them intimacy and fulfillment. That’s the main reason why most early sexual encounters end in disappointment and even psychological or emotional damage.
The sexual energy is a very powerful energy. In the philosophy of Yoga, a true intimate relationship can only occur when the two partners operate from the higher chakras. The media sells “sex as love”, which keeps the energy in the lower chakras. Studies have shown that 43% of women and 31% of men in the United States have sexual dysfunctions.
Many people think sex begins in the head. The most powerful stimulation comes from the pituitary gland. That’s one of the many reasons why women should keep their glands in shape, especially the thyroid, pituitary, and pineal glands which regulate weight and are responsible for the sexual response.
The glandular system is stimulated by all of the senses. The most powerful one is the sense of sight, followed by sound, touch and smell. The fragrance of a partner can be stimulating on a subconscious level.
Yogis advise that you avoid engaging in sexual activities on a full stomach, when angry or upset, or when overly tired. You should also abstain from sex when you are fearful about the relationship or the environment, which can create pressure on the nervous system. If you decide to participate in sex, take a moment to do Breath of Fire and stretching.
One of the 10 bodies (see the 10 bodies) is the arc line, which goes from ear lobe to ear lobe. It’s also called the “halo” and acts as a protection arc. Women have a double arc line. This double arc line goes from nipple to nipple and gets imprinted when having intercourse. It can also get imprinted even when flirting. Women are very sensitive to the penetrating energy of men and this arc line gets imprinted with this energy. Holes in a woman’s arc line can make her insecure and emotionally unbalanced. Too many holes, and the woman can die. Kirtan kriya cleanses a woman’s aura and her subconscious past experiences.
The frequency of sexual activity should be once a month in order to keep the energy contained and creative. This is very different from what couples believe in the West.
Sex should begin 72 hours before intercourse. It can start with a sexy way of talking, gestures, and glances. You can do some of the yoga sets we propose to keep your body energetic and your mind secure and balanced. Sandalwood scented oil applied to the inner thighs is said to increase desire.
The moon centers enhance your sexual experience (see the moon centers in the women’s section for more information). The moon center changes every 2 ½ days. The following moon centers should be stimulated before intercourse: the hairline on the forehead, the lips, the ears, the back of the neck, the breast, the navel or belly area, the lower back, and the inner thighs.
They should be stimulated from the top (the pituitary) to the bottom, or what is the same, from the higher chakras towards the sexual organs. This makes her aura grow from 7 to 9 feet.
The order is as follows: The breasts should be massaged first to stimulate the nipples. Next should be the neck and lips, which should be kissed. From there, massage the cheeks, the hairline around the face, your halo, and then your ears. The earlobes are considered to be as sensitive as the nipples. Then massage the inner thighs, the calves, and, lastly, the vagina or clitoris. This should be done for a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour.
While your partner is stimulating the moon centers, you can stimulate his sexual organs. You can also massage the head, hair, and scalp, including his hairline and face. Then massage the buttocks, the inner thighs, the testicles, the penis, and his navel area and chest. Men are stimulated more easily than women.
